Sarita J. Gibney

Sarita J. Gibney, 97, of Berwyn, PA passed away peacefully at her home on November 2, 2023.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Madeleine and Walter E. Donovan. Sarita is survived by her son Joseph (Karen) and daughter Mary L.; grandsons Tyler (Jessica) and Alec, granddaughter Blanca and great-grandson Carson, along with a sister-in-law Marie Donovan and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mary; siblings Rosemary Santarlasci, Madeleine Marcotte, Geraldine Honohan, Walter Donovan, Edward Donovan, Jeanne DeLuca and Joseph Donovan.

She was raised in Manayunk, PA, graduated from St. John’s High School and spent the last 50 years in Berwyn, PA. She worked reliably for many years at Container Corporation in Manayunk, PA. where she made many long-lasting friendships. She instilled a solid work ethic in her children by her example. Her immediate and extended family were very important to her and she loved and cared deeply for them all.

She was very dedicated to her Catholic faith. She attended daily mass for most of her life and tried to live her Catholic faith. She was involved in many areas and committees at her parishes throughout her life, with the last 50 years at St. Isaac Jogues. She had many cherished friends and the ones that she didn’t outlive were faithful to the end.

The caregivers at Mainline Home Health and Hospice and her three aides treated her with respect and gentle care and were nothing short of a godsend.

Sarita’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday November 8, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Isaac Jogues, 50 W. Walker Road, Wayne, PA 19087. Interment will follow at The Washington Memorial Chapel Cemetery in Valley Forge Park.
