John Joseph Winkler of Collegeville passed away at his residence on August 4, 2023. He was 76 years old. Born in Albany, New York on April 1, 1947 and was the son of the late Bernard and Mary Winkler.
John moved to Pennsylvania when he was 8 years old and spent most of his life in Worcester, PA living on the land originally owned by his father, Bernard Winkler.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1966 – 1968 in Japan working as a motor pool mechanic. After his time spent in the military, he worked 33 years for the Methacton School District as the Head School Bus Mechanic.
John was quite a car enthusiast. He enjoyed classic cars, going to classic car shows, and collecting car memorabilia. He owned a 1966 Buick Riviera and a 1949 Packard which he often entered in car shows.
He always looked forward to the trips to Florida where it was a nice getaway and an opportunity to spend time with family.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers; Peter, Paul, and James.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years; Isobel A. Winkler whom he met after returning home from the army. Isobel emigrated from Northern Ireland. His daughter; Suzanne Bowman, his grandchildren; John D. and Jillian M. Bowman, his sisters; Mary Jane Winkler and Diane Russo , and his brother; Thomas Winkler.
