David H. Douglass

David Harry Douglass “Gup”, age 59, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 surrounded by family.

He was a loving father to David (Katie Kraemer) Douglass, and Chasity Perry. His quiet joy was being a grandfather to Shaolin, Me’Chele, Asia, Drew, and Jaseniyah. Dear brother to Katherine Yost, Anita (Timothy) Moyer, Betty Jane (Andrew) Magnus, Daniel Douglass, Donald (Maryrose) Douglass, and the late Dennis Douglass; proud uncle to many nieces and nephews; and friend to so many. David, or Gup as most people knew him, born September 24, 1963, in Norristown, PA to the late Joyce E. and William H. Douglass.

He graduated from Norristown High School and attended Penn State. Growing up Gup played many sports with a strong passion for baseball, football and basketball. He had an awesome pitching arm, enjoyed softball with his brothers, and looked forward to football season and watching the Eagles. Gup worked at G.L. Sayre Inc. in the parts department for over 30 years, but retired early in 2021 due to a cancer diagnosis. He had a passion for helping others and was always there for family and friends. Gup was a long-time member of the Maenner-Chor in Norristown, where he was always good for a joke with friends. Gup will be missed for his unique sense of humor, wittiness, and being an all-around good guy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 2-6 p.m. at the Maenner-Chor located at 920 Haws Ave., Norristown, Pa 19401
