William ODriscoll Jr. Obituary In Loving Memory of William (Bill) J. ODriscoll, Jr. Feb. 2, 1937-Nov. 7, 2022
Bill was born in Philadelphia, the son of William J. and Pauline ODriscoll, and grew up in the neighborhoods of Hunting Park and Mayfair. He attended St. Matthews School and North Catholic High School before graduating from LaSalle University. He spent all his working life more than 60 years working at and running ODriscolls Service Station, founded by his father, in the Kensington section of the city. He was a consistent part of the community around East Tioga Street and was beloved and depended upon by many neighbors and customers. Some used his services for decades, and untold thousands watched him work the tire machine through the shops big front window. Bill had a handshake like a vise and a hug like a bear. He attended Mass every Sunday. He was by nature trusting, optimistic and cheerful, and his company was a pleasure. He loved his family, his friends, the seashore, cream chipped beef, peach ice cream, and beer. He never could wait for the next party or the next road trip, and he always hated to say goodbye.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Linda (ne Mastronardi); two sons, William J. III (Renee Rosensteel), Timothy J. (Colleen Powers); two daughters, Kristen Marie McDonald (John J. McDonald, Jr.) and Jill Marie (deceased); a brother, Ronald E. ODriscoll; and six loving grandchildren, Jack, Bill, Kelly, Grace, Caroline, and Timmy.
