Siv D. Smith Obituary Siv Dagmar Birgitta Smith (nee. Rogvall ), 87, 4/21/36-12/27/23 At 8:10 pm, December 27th 2023, our beloved matriarch Siv Smith (aka Sivvy D) died of natural causes after a lengthy fight with dementia. She is survived by her older brother Sten and his wife June, her four children and their spouses Johan, Helena (Christopher), Alexander (Shannon) and Alfonso, 7 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild plus many bonus grands, cousins, nieces and nephews. In Sweden she was a newspaper journalist but after moving to the United States in 1972, she worked for Amtrak in various locations and roles, retiring in 2003 from the Amtrak 30th Street Station in Philadelphia. She had a wonderful sense of humor that she kept even when her memory was getting dimmer. She enjoyed traveling, attending and serving her church, documenting her life with photos and film, knitting, following news events, and collecting clippings of things to share with others, but most importantly making the people around her happy. A service and reception will be held at 1pm Saturday , January 6th 2024 at Gloria Dei Swedes Episcopal Church at 916 S Swanson st. Philadelphia PA 19147. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
