Richard Croushore Obituary Richard (Rick) Craig Croushore, the gentlest of gentlemen, made his final journey to Heaven on January 11, 2023. Rick looked forward to one day seeing his departed loved ones, having faith that once again they would celebrate for eternity. Waiting for Rick, among many others, are his mother, Mary Alice (Shanks); father, Richard Lee Croushore; and two of his siblings, Linda Conner and Mark Croushore. Rick was confident that Marion (Pease), his first wife, whom he loved dearly, would be holding their infant son, Michael, while they awaited his arrival.
Rick now will keep a watchful eye out for those who will miss him terribly: his wife, Donna (Gribben/Kent); his sons, R. Scott and Shane Croushore, Joe and Rocco (John) Kent; his daughters-in-law, Denise Pastella, Holly Palmer and Kaia Bruski; his grandchildren, Noah and River Croushore and Trisha Bruski-Croushore. Rick also left behind one sibling, his "little sister" Rydene Stevenson, and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Rick grew up in Fairless Hills, Pa., and was an extremely proud graduate of Pennsbury High School, class of 64. During those years, he was very involved in the Fairless Hills United Methodist Church as a member of the choir, youth clergy, bell choir, and youth group. He maintained roots in the Methodist church his entire life.
Within a year of graduation, Rick joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served much of his military time on base in Ubon, Thailand, 8th Tactical Fighter Wing, Air Command. His specialty was radar and associated weaponry of F4 Phantom fighter jets.
Rick worked in the newspaper field, starting with circulation management at the Bucks County Courier Times prior to and after the service and then in publishing with the Doylestown Intelligencer. Eventually, he worked in directory publishing for Reed Technology, International ComputaPrint, and Thomas Publishing.
Through the years of raising his children, Rick was involved in many sports, including as a coach for youth football, as well as working with the various youth organizations. It was commonplace for him to be packed and waiting for his sons to return from school for a quick trip to the mountains for some night skiing.
Rick loved the mountains and the beach. He adored hawks and eagles. Oftentimes, he would drag Donna to Hawk Mountain to help count hawks during migration. She finally learned how to get him to spring for dinner and drinks by bargaining for the hike she hated. He used to love to sit on the deck, margarita in hand, and watch the ospreys and eagles at the couples second home on Saxis Island, Va.
Music was the root of Ricks soul. He had a unique talent and could sing or recite the lyrics of any song from the 40s to Elvis to the Grateful Dead and beyond to the present, and he could name the singer, band, writer and year. But he would lose his keys daily! Music was actually the beginning of Rick and Donnas relationship with a Jimmy Buffett concert. A year later they built a tiki bar in the backyard, threw a party and Ric-Dons Pooped Parrot became a legacy! From that moment they referred to themselves as Team Ric-Don.
There will be a gathering of loved ones in the Pennsylvania area on Monday, January 16, at 3 p.m. at the Conshohocken VFW Post 1074, 300 E. Fifth Ave., Conshohocken, Pa. 19428 for prayer and fellowship. In the near future, a celebration of life service will take place at his beloved Saxis United Methodist Church on Saxis Island. In the late spring there are plans for a boat brigade ceremony to scatter his ashes on the Chesapeake Bay followed by a dedication of an area of the deck as "Ricks Rest".
In lieu of flowers donations in Ricks name can be sent to Saxis United Methodist Church, PO Box 94, Saxis VA 23427.
