IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raul
Fernandez-Cepeda
November 26, 1953 – June 27, 2025
Raul Fernandez-Cepeda, 71, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home on June 27, 2025, with his wife by his side.
Born in Río Grande, Puerto Rico, Raul was the son of the late Teodoro Fernandez and Ana "Yero" Mercedes Sanjurjo. He was the devoted husband of Ivishnelly Casanova, with whom he shared many loving years.
Raul worked as a mechanic and took great pride in his craft. He was an avid boxing fan, loved playing the guitar, and had a lifelong passion for music—especially sharing it with his grandchildren. He found joy in teaching them songs and passing on his love for melody. Raul also had a curious and playful spirit; he especially enjoyed watching and listening to stories about UFOs and the mysteries of the universe.
He was an animal lover and had a soft spot for pets throughout his life. Raul also enjoyed collecting and fixing watches—a hobby that reflected his attention to detail and appreciation for craftsmanship.
More than anything, Raul cherished time with his family. Whether gathered around the table, playing music, or talking about the stars, those moments meant everything to him.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, deep love for his family, and the joy he found in both the simple and extraordinary parts of life. His warmth, laughter, and quiet strength will be deeply missed.
Raul is survived by his loving wife, Ivishnelly Casanova; his children, Michelle Johnson, wife of the late Paul Johnson, Raúl Fernandez Jr., Christopher Fernandez and his wife Ivelisse Rodriguez, Yeira Crespo and her husband David Crespo, Yeiza Fernandez, Angelo Fernandez, Gretna Peral, and Eduardo San Miguel and his wife Claudia San Miguel. He is also survived by his siblings, Richard Fernandez, Jaime Fernandez, Carmen Fernandez, and Jose "Pepo" Fernandez; and by his 18 cherished grandchildren, along with many extended family members and friends.
A memorial will be held on July 19th at 1:00 p.m. at TIR Church Lancaster, located at 232 Manor Ave., Millersville, PA 17751.
It will be a time to remember him together with family and friends—just as he always wanted: seeing us united as a family.
