IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margo
Smith
December 20, 1958 – April 7, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our sister Margo Smith, on April 7, 2025. Margo was 66 years old and had lived in Rockledge, PA for about 12 years. She spent her childhood and adolescence in Elkins Park and Jenkintown. Margo was the daughter of the late Richard and Doranne Smith. She grew up in a loving home alongside her brothers, Andy Leader-Smith (Julie) and Steve Smith (Robin). Her family was a cornerstone of her life, and she cherished her relationships with her nephews, Adam and Alex Leader-Smith, and her nieces, Sarah, Becca, and Maisie Smith, and with grand-nephew and niece Owen and Nora Leader-Smith.
From a young age, Margo possessed a deep and abiding love for all animals. Whether it was a cherished family pet or a creature she encountered in the world, her compassionate heart extended to every living being. This lifelong affection brought her immense joy and was a defining characteristic of who she was. She leaves behind a much-loved cat named Oliver.
Margo attended Oak Lane Day School, Abington Friends School, and Abington High School. She then spent time at Guilford College and West Chester State University, ultimately earning a degree from Temple University. In her later years, Margo dedicated her professional life to working as a paralegal.
Those who knew Margo will fondly remember her wicked sense of humor, but beneath her laughter lay a deeply compassionate nature. She had a genuine ability to connect with others, offering empathy and understanding to those around her.
A memorial service to celebrate Margo's life will be held at a future date. The family will share details regarding a celebration of her life when arrangements have been made.
In the meantime, the family appreciates your thoughts and condolences during this difficult time. Donations can be made in her memory to the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) at https://phillypaws.org.
