Obituary

Margaret Buchholz Obituary Margaret (Margie) Mary Buchholz It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Margaret Mary Buchholz (ne DeVries), beautiful wife and loving mother. On November 3, 2022, Margie breathed her last breath surrounded by her husband, Karl, and her four children. The youngest child and daughter of William DeVries and Sara McErlain, born on July 15, 1936, Margie grew up in northeast Philadelphia and graduated from Frankford High School in 1954. In 1951, Margie met Karl for the first time at a YWCA dance, and they were married 5 years later in 1956. Upon graduating from high school, Margie worked as an executive secretary at Sun Oil Company and later at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs during Karls military service. She spent the next 20 years raising four children, and then taught preschool for 20 years, where she was known as the beloved Miss Margie. In her later years, Karl and Margie traveled extensively, including many trips to visit children and grandchildren. Margie exemplified the Golden Rule. Ever the nurturer and caregiver, she always lit up the room with a smile. She was happiest when surrounded by her family. She loved piano playing, the out-of-doors, travel, and butter pecan ice cream. She was a devoted and faithful volunteer, serving as Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School teacher, Stephens minister, and foster grandparent for special needs children. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Karl William Buchholz, her four children, Terri Hammatt, Susan Heins (Mike), Karl (Dianne), and Kurt (Jennifer) and her grandchildren (Jennie, Jim, Michael, Sara, Peter, Natalie, Ben, and Violet) and a host of relatives, friends, and the Dock Woods family. God bless you, Margie (Mom and Nana). God broke the mold when he created you. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 25, at 10:30 am, at Dock Woods Chapel in Lansdale, PA. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Living Branches Benevolent Care Fund (https://livingbranches.org/donate/) or the Alzheimers Foundation of America (www.alzfdn.org).
