Kharis Jonathan Schneider Obituary Our firstborn son, Kharis was born on July 18th, 1976 at 11:59pm. How thrilled we were A beautiful baby boy with long dark hair and the lovely midnight blue eyes, wrapped in a Blue blanket. We brought him home and to our surprise, he stayed awake 18 hours. All he Wanted to do was to nurse and be rocked in the special rocking chair Uncle Bob and Aunt Mary gave us. As an infant, I would dance with him doing the waltz to Franz Liszts "Un Sospiro." He and I loved it so much. As, he grew up we would take him out on long walks in his stroller. He was so amazed with everything, from leaves, especially stones, he would like to collect Sand boxes and creeks. He was a natural born swimmer. At age 6 or 7, he jumped into 6 ft. of water in the neighborhood pool and began swimming. When, he was older, he came to love fishing and the seashore, with his Dad and best friend, Hakam. Going back once again to younger years, we had so much fun in the winter. We would go to parks, with his younger brother, Timothy and all the neighborhood kids, sledding snow ball fights and building snowmen were our favorite. He was also so good at constructing models and Legos. He just wanted to see how things ticked. He also took apart my Benrus watch and tried to put it back together again. Fast forwarding a bit, he later came to open his own business, "Cakes by Kharis." During a slow period in his work, he came to learn home construction from his best buddy, Hakam. They refurbished a house completely and sold it. He loved it! His special gift, from God was Art. His 2 uncles, Bob and Edwin were Award-Winning Artist. He was especially very good with detailed works of Art and portraits. At 14, he came to be employed at Oteris Italian Bakery on 5th St. in the Olney section of Phila.Pa. Tom And John and Lisa Oteri and Jimmy Flood, along with Dave, Hector and many of the employees became his 2nd family. He loved them and they loved him. It was there that he learned the Trade of Cake Decorating and moved on to be one of the very best I ever saw. There was no cake, Kharis couldnt make His favorite saying was if you can dream it.I can do it. That he did. On the wall of Tribute you will see Many of his beautiful cakes and Artwork. He wouldnt copy a cake, he would visualize and create in his own beautiful mind. His recognitions are as follows: Best of Philly 2011 Mercedes Benz, Philadelphia Magazine, Best of Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York. He won 1st place 2004 Retail Baker Association, National Competition-Third-2004. Philadelphia Row Home Magazine, Fox 29 with Michelle Buckman, CBS, ABC and NBC. Also, Say yes to Dress-TLC. He was taken from us way too soon on 1/31/24. After, being in Temple and Jefferson Hospital for 2 weeks, being treated for cranial hemoraging or Possible brain aneurysm. I just dont know what to say. We are all heart-broken. His parents, brother Timothy and Antonio, Aunt Linda, Aunt Dee and Aunt Mary. All his cousins, and friends and customers Miss him so, so much. He was the best son any parent could ever ask for or imagine. He is our Heart of Hearts. We know its not good-bye, but see you later dear son. We know you will be waiting for us with Your big smile and strong arms to embrace us. Until then, remember sweetheart son."Always with you And Always with us." We love you always and forever, 1,000 xs and even more. Peace be with you Our son, Kharis
