Judson H. Hand Obituary Judson H. Hand passed away February 6, 2024 at the Peter Becker Community Medical Center. Born in 1940 he was the adopted son of Benjamin Marvin Hand MD and Adelaide Hancock Hand of Germantown, PA. He graduated from Germantown Academy followed by a year at Dickinson College before entering the US Navy in 1960. After 4 years in the Navy Jud entered the business world of insurance and worked his way up to senior litigator starting at Transamerica and retiring from Republic Western in. Jud started playing tennis and squash about the age of 12 at Germantown Cricket Club. Squash continued to be an important part of his life and in 1973 he became a member at Gwynedd Racquet Club, a new small club in North Wales, PA. From painting courts to presiding on the Board of Directors to organizing tournaments he did it all for many years until he retired for health reasons around 2011. He loved playing in tournaments and teaching new members how to play and hit a corner shot. In 1978 Jud met Liz and her two sons Ian and Lachlan McIntosh at Gwynedd, taught them to play squash and they soon became a family. GRC was the center of their universe for many years and will continue to be so as Ian and Lach carry on his tradition. In 2018 the Hand/McIntosh family was awarded the annual Service Award for outstanding and tireless service to the sport of squash and the PSRA community. Jud was very courageous and determined in a 13 year battle with cancer and he took the job of being a husband and father very seriously. A memorial honoring Jud will be held April 6, 2024.
