Joanie A. Van Wyk Obituary JOAN A. VAN WYK August 5, 1942 October 26, 2023 Joan A. Van Wyk (nee Hill), a longtime resident of Chester County, drifted peacefully into the arms of Jesus on October 26, 2023. Born in Delaware County, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Ida Hill, and was predeceased by her older brothers, William and Robert Hill. She was a loving mother to Kimberly Van Wyk and Debra Wagner (Thomas), and four grandchildren. Joanie was a graduate of Upper Darby High School, went on to secretarial school and worked for Llanerch Country Club, National Liberty Insurance Co., was the bookkeeper for a small family business, and in mid-life became self employed as a chauffeur/driver for the Amish. She was always involved in her childrens school as homeroom mother and part of the PTA. She was involved in hosting bible studies and youth groups at her home while involved in church for years in West Chester. It is fitting that her memorial is in November, as it is Native American Heritage Month, a people with rich ancestry and tradition who left a lasting impression on her life. She loved going to Pow Wows and talking with Native Americans about their culture and enjoyed their magnificent artistry and music. One of her cats she loved was named Tatanka (Buffalo). Joanie had a passion for nature and all animals especially her horses and cats. She cherished her trail rides and time at the barn on her farmette. She loved all-things western, country music, traveling, trips to the Jersey shore, time with family, and making people happy. She had a sweet soul and was looking forward to eternity in Heaven.
