Henry 'Hank' E. Birkhead Jr. Obituary Henry (Hank) E. Birkhead Jr., aged 52, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 8, 2024, while deep-sea fishing in Barnegat Light, NJ. Hank was born at Montgomery Hospital in Norristown, PA, to the late Linda Carol Birkhead (Aigledinger) and Henry Birkhead Sr. Hank is survived by his girlfriend of 13 years, Mary Runco, his younger sister Christine Reese (Birkhead), and her children, Kayla and Maxwell. He is also survived by his maternal aunt and two cousins in Wyndmoor, PA, a maternal uncle in Maine, and two step-sisters, Diana and Lori.
Hank graduated from Upper Merion High School, Class of 1989, and worked as a highly skilled tri-axle truck driver for C&R Outdoor Services. Hanks deep connection to the community led him to become a proud firefighter. He was a lifetime member and firefighter for Goodwill Fire Company in Bridgeport, PA, and Swedeland Fire Company in Swedeland, PA. Hank was also affiliated with the Swedesburg Fire Company, Valley Forge Fire Company, Royersford Fire Company, AOH Club, and the VFW.
Hanks love for the Philadelphia Eagles and zest for life were inspiring. Hank enjoyed deep-sea fishing and cherished moments with his girlfriend and friends. He will be remembered for his good-natured desire to have a fun time, how he made people laugh, and lived life to the fullest.
Funeral services, arranged by Raffeo-DiCecco Memorial Home, will include a Celebration of Life Service at Swedeland Fire House Social Hall (609 A Street, Swedeland, PA 19406) on Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 2 pm to 6 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Hanks honor can be made to support our local fire department and first responders.
