Gerald E. Stokker Obituary 'NOW YOU REALIZE, of course..." If you were with Gerry Stokker and you heard him speak these words, you knew you were in for a schooling and a treat. There is little in this world that Gerry loved more than the collection and dissemination of knowledge, or what passed for it from his experience. Regardless of your own expertise on the subject at hand, and whether the information you were about to receive came from a PBS special or from a stranger he met on the beaches of Cambodia, Gerry was always ready to relay his array of knowledgeand the more esoteric, and the more arcane its source, the better. If Gerry had had his way, instead of having been born in Albert Lea, MN, his mother, Emily, and his father, George, would have birthed him somewhere on a distant shore adjoining Flkvangr, the Nordic fields of legend, far from the madding crowds of the living. Rather than having received his masters degree in organic chemistry from the University of Minnesota, Gerry, who in real life authored dozens of patents in the field of pharmaceuticals while working for Merck, would have practiced his art under the tutelage of some third-hand oracle, deep within the disused sub-basements of Valhalla. Gerry, of Lower Gwynedd, PA, passed away peacefully on the 5th of December 2024, at the Exton Senior Living facility, having lived to be 85 years old. He is predeceased by his loving second wife, Elizabeth, with whom he traveled the world, and is survived by his children, Kevin (Laura) Stokkerto whom he taught chessand Alan (Jennifer) Stokkerto whom he passed on his passion for model-makingas well as two granddaughters, Mallory and Madelyn. A service in his memory will be held at St. Johns Lutheran Church, in Blue Bell, PA, on the 15th of December at 2pm. Visiting hour will precede this at 1pm, also at St. Johns Church. He will be interred on its grounds. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Project Pawn, an inner-city organization in New York aimed at empowering youth through chess.
