George Michael Wharton Obituary George Michael Wharton (Mike) June 7, 1943 - Feb 21, 2024. Michael was born in Folcroft, Pennsylvania in 1943. With his family by his side, Mike left this world peacefully on Wednesday February 21, 2024 and leaves behind his beloved wife Kathleen (Kass). and his adoring sister Judy. He is also survived by a large family which includes 6 children; Laura (James) Ross, Timothy (Angela) Wharton, Amy (Tom) Brennan, April (Don) Coleman, Michael (Mary) Wharton, Meghan (Rich) Hier. Step Children: Kristen Duffin/Jason, Michael Leonardo/Lauren. As well as, Step Children: Tom, Steve,and Rochelle Majeski. 23 grandchildren; Brady, Aidan, Louie, Stephen, Michael, Christopher, Erin, Allison, Tommy, Shane, Emma, Sara, the late Maximus, the late David, Rhiannon, Andrew, Katie, Joseph, Jackson, James, Jenna, Julian, Brandon and 8 great grandchildren. And his many friends, especially those from the "V" and Carmens. Mike was preceded in death by his Father - George Wharton, Mother - Mary Hazel Beall. Mike proudly served in the US Navy for four years and two years in the Reserves. He worked for Verizon as a splicer for 35 years and served CWA Local 13000 Unit 25 as Unit President. He then became a mentor to future Unit Presidents, including John McMillan, and Mikes son, Tim. Mike was a previous Commander of of the Oakford VFW #9765 (The Keith Anderson Memorial Post) and an active member of Hilltop AA for many years. He loved life and was always on the move, whether golfing, gardening, hanging with his friends and family, or organizing his weekly football pools and golf events. Of course he was a proud Philadelphia sports fan, especially, the Eagles. He will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and co-workers. Please join us as we honor the memory of our beloved father, husband and friend for a military service that will be held on Thursday March 28th at 11:30 AM at Washington Crossing 830 Highland Rd Newtown PA 18940, followed by a Celebration of Life at Hilltop AA in Trevose PA.
