Eleanor deVore Sayre Obituary Eleanor de Vore Sayre, 91, of Bryn Mawr, PA passed away peacefully at her home on November 7, 2024. She was born on August 1, 1933 in Montclair, NJ and was the daughter of the late Eleanor and Weber deVore.
She attended the University of Pennsylvania and received a BA in English in 1955. She received a Masters of Library Science from Villanova University in 1975. Eleanor was the Lower School librarian at Friends Central School from 1972 1981.
A long-time resident of Bryn Mawr, she and her husband Bill, kept horses for many years. She was an enthusiastic weaver and enjoyed the textile arts, as well as gardening, reading, and travel and was a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Handweavers, Pennsylvania Society of New England Women, Acorn Club, Colonial Dames and Garden Club.
Along with her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years who passed away in 1999, William "Bill" Heysham Sayre and her grandson, Neal Sayre.
Eleanor is survived by her four children; William (Kim), Robert (Dorothy), Catherine (Mike) and Carolyn (Chris), her brother; Weber Devore (Shirley) and Grandson; Harrison.
