He was born and raised in West Norriton. After graduating from AD Eisenhower High School, he served four years in the United States Navy in Norfolk, VA.

He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Montgomery County Fire Police Association and was honored by West Norriton Township and the United States Senate for his years of fire service. Chet enjoyed using his resonant bass singing voice with the church choir for over 50 years, the North Pennsmen Barbershop Chorus of Lansdale.and the Militiamen Barbershop Chorus of Whitemarsh Township.
After flying to Cape Cod every weekend during the summer of 1961 to court the love of his life, he married Edith Benson Cloud. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this November. He is survived by his wife and his three daughters, Marjorie (James) Green, Elinor (Thomas) Spring and Karin (Brett) Howie. He was Poppop to 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Megan Leigh Green and his sisters, Janet Parker and Nancy Miller.
Chet will be remembered as a hard worker, a friend to all, and a selfless volunteer. He adored his grandchildren and was known by them as a fun-loving jokester who always brought a smile to their faces.
