Charles J. Franklin Obituary Chartes James Franklin was born on May 29, t936 to the late Hattie Franklin and James Tafbert in McCormick, S. C. He was the eldest of four chitdren and was affectionately known as "Sonny." Chartes was a man of faith, a devoted husband to his wife (Lilly Franklin) and a wonderful father to his children: Stacy Williams, James Franklin, Crystal Franklin, Cynthia Franklin and Carissa Franklin. During his time on earth, Charles was educated in the McCormick School System. In 1955 he sewed in the Army, in which he was assigned to the Infantry and Germany. He was disciplined, a hard worker who held several jobs throughout his career such as: JP Stephenson (forkliR driver), Mr. Warlaws on Sullivan St. as a painter, Hertz Car Rentals (transporting cars) with his brother Garnet (Tutney), aroofer, Tastykake and tastly AL Bermans, 54th and City Line Avenue, which he worked for many years (multiple positions) and became as one of the family. He tived in a close-knit neighborhood where families worked together painting the community, keeping the street clean and safe and having events for the children. He enjoyed many memorable family reunions and road trips to South Carolina, Wildwood, gueens, NY and Maryland with the Franklin and Williams famity. Charles had agreat love for his family and adored his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren and was always present in their lives and time of need. He had atight bond with his brothers that could never be broken. They stuck by each other's side (tighter than glue.) The way they looked out for each other was priceless. He spoke many words of wisdom to the young men in the neighborhood to keep them on the right path and brought laughter to many. He was a joy to be around and his memory wilf be cherished for years to come. Charles was preceded in death by: Hattie Franktin and James Talbert (parents); James Franklin (brother); Stacy Wittiams (daughter); Jonathan Williams (grandson). Charfe ayecto,cherish his children: James, Crystal, Cynthia and Carissa, 12 grandchildrenand 21 greatgrandchildren.
