Michael F. Michalowicz Obituary Michael F. Michalowicz, 53, of Conshohocken, PA, tragically ended his life on October 23, 2024, following a long struggle with his mental health.
Michael was born in Plainfield, NJ, to Martha Michalowicz and later adopted by his uncle, Thomas Michalowicz, in 1989. He was a graduate of Loyola University Maryland where he was member of the Computer Science Honor Society Upsilon Pi Epsilon. He went on to build a highly successful career as a software developer/architect, creating software for AT&T, military battle simulation programs for the government of Japan, and was a Senior Software Developer for Nuix North America, his employer at the time of his passing. Mike took great pride in the quality of his designs and the knowledge that they were useful to others. Many who knew him describe him as extremely intelligent and creative.
Mike loved and was fueled by a challenge. He didnt just go biking, he did two 400-plus mile weeklong bike tours in the Colorado Rockies. When he skied, it was Black Diamond runs in the Austrian Alps. He carried that enthusiasm into a variety of interests: gaming, cooking, kayaking, and swimming. He was an avid aquarist and was highly skilled at building things with both wood and electronics.
Above all he loved animals, coming alive when he came across any sort of critter and going out of his way to help them. And the most loved of all animals were his cats Dooders and Dapper, his "furkids." They were the most important beings in his life, and he devoted himself to their health and happiness. Everyone knew Mike as a kind and generous man, always thinking of others. Among his many kindnesses, he distributed hand warmers to the homeless of Philadelphia in the winter, took leftover food from work functions to a homeless shelter, and gave numerous thoughtful gifts to family and friends. He was generous with his computer knowledge as well, eager to lend a hand solving a problem or passing on and buying equipment for anyone he knew was in need.
Mike will be greatly missed by his beloved sisters, Kathleen Michalowicz and Tricia Michalowicz, nephew Nicholas Ingerto, niece Julianna Ingerto, his feline family Dooders and Dapper, his betta fish, Ruby and so many good friends and colleagues.
