IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marion
Thomas Jr.
March 30, 1932 – May 17, 2025
Marion Thomas Jr. was born on March 30th, 1932 to the late Ruby (Ginyard) and Marion Thomas, Sr. in St. Matthews, SC. He had 4 sisters and 6 brothers. Marion was the oldest, then Bobby, Nancy, Robert Lee (RL), Rebecca/Isacc (twins), Dorothy (Dot), Betty, Harvey Lee, Charles & Ruford (Forty). The rule of thumb was that the younger ones had to obey the older ones.
While Marion's education stopped at 6th grade, he worked as a Sharecropper along with his parents, a Machine Technician, he worked in Construction and was also a Custodian for the Norristown School District for 12 yrs. He always said, "I never had a job I didn't like!"
December 22, 1966, Marion married the love of his life, the late Rosalyn. Their home sweet home was built by Marion. Together they enjoyed bowling and motorcycling. They used to ride to Upstate NY and Canada with friends. Their conversations and interactions will forever be memorable. He was right there by her bedside holding her hand until she was called home.
Marion enjoyed Ushering at the church. He was a part of a bowling league in which he bowled an average of 169. He loved riding his Harley Davidson, which he did for 16 yrs. He enjoyed cooking and baking, which he learned from his mom. If you ever visited Marion and spoke about baking, I'm sure you heard about the Five Flavor Cake. He would keep copies of the recipe to handout to everyone. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and asked for nothing in return. He was very particular about his grass. If you didn't cut it right, he'd go out there and show you. Marion also loved Judge Judy, because "She tells it like it is!"
Marion was known for his sayings,
"Yes, indeedy"
"Man oh man"
"Oh Lordy"
"Yes sir, no doubt about it"
"Full as a tick"
Marion is survived by 2 sisters, Dot & Rebecca, 1 brother, Charles, step-son Alfred Ragland (Verna) and 5 grandchildren, Marguarite, Cherise, Gregory, Chawanna & Jessica. Along with a long list of Great-Grands, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Gregory Green, Brothers: Bobby, Robert (RL), Isacc, Harvey Lee & Ruford (Forty), Sisters: Nancy & Betty and Great-Granddaughter Kyra.
Marion would end a phone call with, "Thanks for calling! So long now!"
