Elaine Rice Obituary Elaine Jean (Straubmuller) Rice passed away peacefully in her home on 12/12/20. She was 83 years young. She was born in Philadelphia on May 15, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Gustav (Gus) and Eugenia. She was a 1955 graduate of Abington High School and went off to business school to pursue her love of finance. Her stellar financial planning skills would put any formally trained person to shame. Elaine worked in the banking industry for over 30 years. She served as Head Teller for Continental Bank, MidLantic, and finally PNC where she retired. Elaine loved her work but her most prized possession was not a possession at all. It was her family. She lived for her husband and her children. Her selfless nature had her in the kitchen for endless hours cooking and baking, school projects included all night stints helping her children get that grade, and holidays were memorable simply because of her presence with Christmas being the pinnacle of those. She is famous for her Sunday roast beef, baked chicken and mashed potatoes, Thanksgiving pies, Christmas ham, Swedish meatballs, cream cheese cookies, and NY Cheesecake topped with cherries. Sunday nights included her playing the organ and sometimes the piano surrounded by her children and husband who would sing old hymns for hours on end. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Willard, Sr., and a son, Willard, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Robin of Virginia Beach, VA, David (Christina) of Norristown, PA, and Heidi (Michael) of East Norriton; 6 grandchildren; Elizabeth (Carlos), Willard, III, Jonathan, Nicole, Matthew, and Kayleigh, as well as 2 great grandchildren; Isabella and Elena. She is also survived by a brother Eugene (Rita) & sister Norma (Bill). Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Saturday December 19th from 10-11am followed by the funeral at 11am at Limerick Chapel 378 West Ridge Pike, Limerick, PA 19468.
