Frederick H. Wissert passed away on Friday, September 6, 2019, at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, PA, surrounded by loved ones.
Born March 9, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Alfred J. Sr. and Bertha Mae (Driscoll) Wissert. He grew up in Kensington before
relocating with his family to the Norristown, PA, area at age 16.
He served as a Ranger in Vietnam with the U.S. Army, and was a former general contractor, commercial fisherman, truck driver, warehouse manager, mechanic, and prison guard.
He enjoyed fishing, rebuilding and racing hot rods, attending car shows, camping, going down the shore, and spending as much time as possible with his family.
Fred is survived by his
children; Rita R., Thomas F., Daniel J., and Frederick H. Wissert, his step-son; Walter Beal. his
grandchildren; Paul Kessler, Victoria Kessler, Trista Wissert, Jasmine Wissert, Nicole Newby, Cole Wissert, Braeden Marker, and Kaitlyn Marker.
his step-grandchildren: John Beal, Mackenzie Beal, and Russell Beal, and his great granddaughter; Ava Castle.
He was preceded in death by his brothers; Alfred J. Wissert, Jr., and Francis Wissert, his
daughter; Angeline Mae Wissert., and his step-son; Howard Beal.
Relatives and friends invited to his viewing on Tuesday September 17th from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM at the Raffeo-DiCecco Memorial Home 19 East Germantown Pike, Norristown, PA 19401. Interment will follow at 2:30pm at Washington Crossing National Cemetery 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940. A reception at the Gravel Pike Inn 595 Gravel Pike, Collegeville, PA 19426 will follow immediately after committal. Family, friends, and veterans are all welcome to attend.
